The historic Cinque Port of Rye is located on the estuary of the River Rother. It's many attractions include the church, Ypres Tower and the windmill. Here are some photographs of Rye taken in 1980 and 2000 - the differences and similarities are interesting.

The skyline from the church, looking towards the windmill. Note the customs tower standing derelict and overgrown in the right foreground (1980).

A similar view, slightly more northerly than above. Note the customs tower is fully restored and reroofed (2000).

Mermaid Street (2000), note the overgrown ivy!

The Ypres Tower and the flooded River Rother (1980). Dungeness Power station can be seen in the very distance, just left of centre
